Introduction to ScarWork: One Day Practical Workshop

There are over 30 techniques developed by Sharon Wheeler used in ScarWork, depending on the presentation of the scar. A few of the basic techniques are covered in this one day practical workshop. These easy to follow techniques aimed at improving old and new surgical scars such as scars from cancer surgery, knee and hip replacements, abdominal scars and many more. Ideal to integrate into most physical therapy practices, these techniques are simple but effective and minimal strain is placed on the therapist’s hands.

Students will have an introduction to the principles and practices of ScarWork therapy followed by a practical demonstration of selected techniques, suitable for most post-operative scars. Students will have the opportunity to practice the techniques in paired working.

The course is ideal for most professional therapists and bodyworkers and would be suitable for anyone completely new to working with scars or those with training in physiotherapy, myofascial scar release, or for those working with sports teams or in clinical and cancer treatment settings.

This is a practical workshop is a great introduction to ScarWork, but not a professionally certified ScarWork qualification as only a selection of basic techniques are covered.
